Conures are very playful and loving.

Doves and conures are excellent as a child's first pet, as they require little maintenance and are a lot fun.

    White Dove

    • Albino form of the Indian ringneck dove

    • Known worldwide as a symbol of peace and joy.

    Notes:

    • Doves have been know to live as long as 20 years!

    • Pigeons and doves are the only birds that feed their young with a milklike substance; the babies put their beaks into the mother's throat to receive nourishment.

    Conures

    • Parrot-type birds from South America

    • Tame

    • Playful

    • Better if raised in captivity from birth

    • Live in burrows in nature, so they like to be carried in pockets.

    Food

    • Conures prefer fruit and large seeds such as sunflower seeds.

    • Doves need smaller seeds and greens.

    • Both birds need grit, a substance that helps them digest food.
