This project was accomplished in just one day.

A plain concrete patio floor is like a blank canvas and can easily be updated and enhanced with a little paint.

Painting the patio should be the last phase of a landscape makeover so that you won't drag construction materials over it. Once all the other projects are done, begin by cleaning the surface area thoroughly.

    Materials:

    1/8" plywood
    Paint suitable for cement
    Paintbrushes
    Paint roller
    Marker
    Jigsaw
    Safety glasses
    Gloves

Always use safety gear, including gloves and safety glasses.

    1. Begin by cleaning the patio thoroughly. Let dry.

    2. Create a design, and transfer it to the plywood with your marker. Use a jigsaw to cut out the design, creating a template. Be sure to wear gloves and safety glasses.

    3. Apply a base coat of paint. You may need to apply two coats to make sure the base coat is even and that any old paint is well hidden. Let the paint dry.

    4. Place the template on the patio, and apply the design, using a second color of paint.

    5. Let the paint dry thoroughly before moving out patio furniture and planters.
