  • Decorating: Light-Fixture Luminary (Quick Tip)
  • From "Ask DIY"
    episode ADI-513

Just because you're hanging out outside your home doesn't mean you have to abandon style!

Start with an inexpensive glass-globe light fixture from your home-improvement store, about 24" of 18-gauge copper wire and a pair of wire cutters. Turn the globe upside down and cut a piece of wire as long as you want the handle to be. Twist a loop in each end of the wire; then cut a second piece of wire the distance around the top of the globe plus a couple of inches. Thread this piece through both loops in the other piece, bend it around the lip of the globe and twist it to secure. Add a tealight candle and hang the luminary from a tree branch or a plant hanger.
