  • Bohemian Eclectic Living Room: Finishing Touches
  • Colorful beads add a Bohemian touch to a bare-bones chandelier.

This newly renovated living room is almost complete: all that's left to do is dress up the chandelier (figure A). Perfectly serviceable, the chandelier nonetheless needs to be given a facelift to help it complement the Victorian architecture--and a dose of Bohemian artistry will add a pop of unexpected color.

    Materials:
acrylic beads (various sizes, shapes, and colors)
    glass paint in turquoise
    small artist's brush
    wire
    wire cutters

    1. Shannon Kaye purchased approximately $20 worth of acrylic beads in a variety of deep hues.

    2. Clear beads are painted with turquoise glass paint; this translucent enamel will allow light to shine through the beads (figure B).

    3. When the paint is dry, the beads are strung on wire (figure C).

    4. Finally, the beads are strung in a random pattern on the chandelier. They'll add reflective color and add the crowning touch to the Bohemian feel of the room (figure D).

The room is put back together: the formerly bland white walls and mismatched furniture are now full of color, texture and Victorian charm, all of which work to tie the room together (figure E) (figure F) (figure G) (figure H).
