The final step in any project is to accessorize, adding the finishing touches of personality and design.

• For this already fabulous space, Golden uses a flea market vanity painted black (figure A) to continue the French look established by the silhouettes.

  
  

• She expands an ordinary door mirror (figure B) by adding paint around it using the trompe l'oeil painting technique.

  
  

• Next, she adds crystal lamps and over-the-top hatboxes (figure C) as decorative flourishes.

  
  

• To create a custom bulletin board (figure D), Golden fastens together a layer of upholstery batting, a thin layer of cork, and 1/4" plywood.

  She cuts the layers to fit the size of the picture frame she's using for the border (the layers can be cut to any size frame), then adds ribbon and decorative knobs for extra pizzazz.
