DIY Decorating and Design host Nancy Golden suggests several ways to serve refreshments at theme parties. - Indy 500 party: Turn an oil pan into a drinks bucket by filling it with ice and putting bottled drinks in it. Use a large funnel as a serving dish for chips.
- Girl's birthday party: Use a pink vinyl suitcase-on-wheels as a drinks caddy, and let the guest of honor keep the suitcase. Purchase a variety of plastic storage containers in gumdrop colors to act as serving dishes and favors.
- Little boy's party: Put ice and sodas (root beer in glass bottles would look very grown-up) in a toolbox; use the toolbox tray to serve snacks. Also, serve popcorn in a large toy dump truck.
- Garden party: Clean out your birdbath, line it with ivy and place your punchbowl in it. Or use a cake plate that turns over and converts to a punchbowl. A basket with a liner also makes an interesting bowl.
