Q: Im having about 20 people for a bridal shower and need to plan some games. Can you suggest something thats not the same old thing?A: You know, you dont always have to do games. Heres an idea for something different. For a party I planned for InStyle magazine, I set up a crafts table and let all the guests create their own personalized totes.
Q: My best friend is getting married, and Im having a fancy party for her shower. Can you show me ways to decorate with the colors shes using at her wedding? Theyre blue and white.
A: I know just the thing to do here. For a wedding in those colors, I used a very modern approach, with clean lines, orchid trees and lots of candles. To create a similar effect for the shower, add complementing touches like blue M&M's®, or create a signature blue martini.
Q: My dear friend is getting married, and I want to have a shower for her. Itll be the second marriage for both of them. What kind of gifts would be appropriate?"
A: Since its your friends second marriage, she probably has just about everything she really needs -- and shes probably a lot wiser too! How about a CD collection of love songs, or a romanic cookbook, or even a picnic basket full of goodies -- things thatll get used even by the bride who has everything.
Q: Several of my friends are having a bridal shower for me, and Im trying to think of something really special to give them to say thanks. Any ideas?
A: Most women love personalized items, so what about giving them stationery? You can have a calligrapher add their names to the top of each card. Or you might want to give each of them a picture of the two of you together and add a special touch by attaching a few rhinestones and a beautiful bow to the top of each frame.
