    Setting Up the Putting Greens

    Materials:

5 plastic, assorted color toy sand molds
Three 15 lb. bags play sand
    Shells for sand
2 small beach chairs for sand
2 small beach towels and some lounging dolls or items to decorate the 4-5 sand piles
    Remote control dune buggy
Ken-type doll to drive buggy; preferably with sunglasses and in a bathing suit
4-5 pinwheels -- these come in all shapes and sizes
    3 beach balls
    2 plastic sand pails
    Giant blow up octopus
Guest count plus extra Neon golf balls -- 20 used balls
A putting or miniature golf club for each guest

Place the putting greens where you want them around the yard before the party starts. After the greens are in place, add the obstacles. Use wind-up toys, dolls, beach balls, sand, etc. Some examples:

    • For one, you can use a giant rubber octopus (figure A).

    • You can create one using pinwheels.

    • You can create one with beach balls and fish (figure B).

    • Another good idea is to simply put sand and shells all along the inside edges of the green (figure C).

    • Also, you cut a hole through the bottom of two plastic sand pails and hot glue them together and place them on their sides (figure D), and the guests have to putt the ball through one of them to reach the hole.

    • For another idea, place the five toy sand molds upside down on mounds of sand (figure E). For the remote control dune buggy, guests drive the dune buggy to push the ball into the hole. Just let your creativity come to play and create a challenging course for your guests.

Expert tip: Debbie Lee, Culinary Expert, says the designing and placing of buffets can be a task for some, but there is really a simple way to do it. Start with your plates and utensils, do a great bread basket with butter and olive oil on the side. Proceed to the salad, vegetables and then to the main course. Save the best for the last -- the dessert.
