    Materials:

One large cardboard box and various cardboard shapes
    Assorted foam paint brushes
    Paint brushes
    Glue gun
    Glue sticks
    Tacky glue
    Assorted shells, large and starfish
    Bag of playground sand
    Sewing trim

    1. Use cardboard from paper towel holders, oatmeal boxes and shipping boxes and cut out shapes at the top to look like a castle. Glue sewing trim around the tops of some of the boxes (figure A).

    2. Hot glue all the cardboard pieces together (figure B). A heavy coat of tacky glue, or any white glue you prefer, brushed onto the surface allows the sand to stick (figure C).

    3. Take handfuls of sand and sprinkle all over the glue. This process can be repeated a few times to cover all the areas (figure D).

    4. Glue various shells to the front and sides of the castle (figure E).

Expert Tip: Krista Lawlor, Crafts Expert for Jo-Ann etc says that you can easily turn a cardboard box into a fun castle. Just spray the cardboard with spray adhesive, and then gently pour over the sand onto the adhesive to stick. For better coverage, you could repeat the process again.
