Materials:
Various riser materials 6 yards toile or striped fabric Solid tablecloth that matches color in your fabric Two glass vase flower arrangements Picture frame and iron work serving trays Silverware holder Assorted baskets 12 votive holders - Put the tablecloth on the table and then place a riser (we used wooden box) in the center of the buffet table (figure A) and then drape striped or toile fabric over the top of the table.
- Since it is hard for people to reach the food that is in the center of a circular buffet, place decorations in this area (figure B).
- Use other risers under the toile or striped fabric to place items on. Once you have all your risers in place, tuck the toile or striped fabric under so that the edges meet the edges of the tablecloth.
- Place the serving pieces for your main courses on the table first. After you place your serving trays, plates, etc. on the table, place votive candles all around (figure C).
Note: If you have hard edges, you can create a softer look by scrunching garbage bags and placing them close to the hard edges underneath the toile or striped fabric. Expert Tip: Krista Lawlor, Craft Expert, says that when measuring fabric, you need to take into account how much of a drop you want on either side of the table. Measure the table and than add about 1-1/2 times the amount of the table to give you enough fabric to play with on either side. Expert Tip: If you are going to have a buffet that is self-service, you would normally roll your silverware up in a napkin and put it in a basket or other fun container that looks good on the buffet. This way the guests can go through the buffet line, pick up their silverware and plate and go find their table from there. Expert Tip: Cheryl Evanoff, Vice President, Regent Rents, says that one of the great resources people have is rental companies. You can rent anything from tents to tables, chairs, china, silverware, glassware, and lighting. The sales people that come out from the rental companies are very knowledgeable and experienced and they can help you with anything you possibly need.
