Materials: 2 bronze urns (bronze-look or burnished metal) Two 3 x 6-inch pillar candles Assorted colorful roses Mixed bunch of flowers 6 small clusters plastic grapes 2 blocks floral foam Floral wire Wire cutters Scissors 2 different colored tablecloths Table runner Plate chargers Wine glasses Eating utensils Cloth napkins Napkins rings Name tags - Place dry floral foam into the bottom of each urn and then sit a candle on top of the foam.
- Cut wet floral foam into small cubes and place around the urn all the way to the top of the rim (figure A).
- Attach floral wire around each grape cluster and then insert the clusters into the foam (figure B).
- Snip and cut roses and assorted flowers and fillers and insert them into the foam all around the urn (figure C).
- Decorate your table. For our table we used a forest green tablecloth and then put a burgundy tablecloth over that and turned it so that two ends hung off the middle of the sides of the table and two hung off the long ends of the table. We then placed a table runner in the center of the table. Add one or two urns with flowers.
- Set the table with the plate chargers, wine glasses, napkins with napkins rings, name tags, etc.
- For our name tag we put coiled wire into a cork and inserted the name tag into the coil. We glued a small piece of foil to the underneath to allow it to stand (figure D).
Expert Tip: Judi Brockman, Floral Expert, says that if you are arranging roses for a pair of centerpieces, the main thing you want to do is give the impact to the roses, whether you are using all red, all monochromatic, or you're using an assortment of colors. You need to use some filler with those, because fillers will make the roses stand out and really make a good presentation for you. Expert Tip: Diann Valentine, Event Producer, says that as you begin to set the table for the perfect cocktail table at home, don't be afraid to mix and match china patterns. It adds great alternative looks to your table and allows you to show off not only one set of china but two or three.
