    Materials for Hanging Heart:

3' long x 4' wide piece of aviary or chicken wire
    22-gauge wire
    Wire cutters
    Work gloves
    6 bricks floral foam
    Dozen flower picks
    Green moss
    Glue sticks
    Hot glue gun
    Floral spray
    White glue
    Spray adhesive
    Foam brushes
    Dozen medium roses
    2 bunches assorted colorful flowers
    1 bunch stock greenery
    Potpourri petals
    Fishing line
    Wire
    Wide and thin ribbon
    Plastic pearl strands

    1. Use the wire cutters to cut two 3 foot x 2 foot strips.

    2. Wrap each strip around 3 blocks of floral foam (figure A). This will help it keep the cylindrical shape.

    3. Flatten the end of the cylinder and bend it into a candy cane shape (figure B) to make one half of the heart.

    4. Join the 2 separate candy cane shaped pieces with 22-gauge wire (figure C) to form a heart.

    5. Use hot glue to attach the moss to the frame (figure D).

    6. Moss is dry and some pieces are green, but may not be as green as you want it. You can use floral spray to give it a great, rich color (figure E). Make sure you are in a well ventilated area when you spray. It will dry immediately and gives you a two-tone effect.

    7. To make sure your flowers stay fresh, use floral picks. Arrange the roses and assorted colorful flowers on the wreath (figure F). For several flowers, you can cut the top of the floral pick so you can put more than one flower into the pick.

    8. For a final touch, add pearl strands and ribbon (figure G) all around the heart. Hang the moss heart above the buffet with fishing wire.

    Materials for the Candelabras:

    Candelabras
    Nosegay holders
    Various cut flowers
    Wet floral foam
    Pearl strands
    Ribbons

    1. Cut the wet floral foam into pieces that fit the nosegay. Then push the floral foam into place. The excess water will push out of the bottom (figure H).

    2. Start by placing the greenery in the nosegay first and then add a few flowers to each nosegay. When finished adding flowers, place each nosegay into the candelabra. For a finishing touch, we added strands of faux pearls (figure I).

    3. You can make the nosegays a day before the party and then store them in the refrigerator until time for the party.

    Expert Tips:

    • Krista Lawlor from JoAnns, Etc. says that when you work with chicken wire you always want to keep safety in mind. Be sure to wear heavy-duty gardening gloves or worker's leather gloves to protect your fingers from cuts. Also when bending the wire, be sure to use something sturdy such as a metal garbage can or even a table edge.

    • Judi Brockman, Floral Expert, says that you need to moisten the moss. It makes it easier to use and makes it look more natural. Moisten it and stretch it over your wire form. You can possibly just push it in your form with green picks, or you can hot glue it. It works great.

    • Diann Valentin, Event Producer, says that in designing a buffet you can use a centerpiece as a focal point; or you can be more creative and use various items that become a focus for the eye whether it is in each corner, sporadic, or one piece in the center.
