    Materials:

    Fifteen 12" square cardboard boxes
    Tape
2 rolls each of red, white and black contact paper
10 red, white and black helium balloons
    Red and white ribbon
    5 dice-shaped Mylar balloons
Silver, red and black shredded metallic Mylar
    Newspaper and riser material
    Scissors
    Pencil
    Circle template
    Double-stick tape

    1. Draw a sketch of your dice columns (figure A).

    2. Using the circle template, trace the dice spot shapes onto black and white contact paper (figure B).

    3. Cover the boxes with black contact paper. The best way to work with contact paper is to roll it out on the table and then place the box on top of the contact paper and rotate the box around the contact paper (figure C). Smooth the wrinkles out of the contact paper as you wrap each side.

    4. Place the dots on the boxes just like actual dice.

    5. Tape your balloon ribbons to the bottom of the box and then stuff the box with crumbled up newspaper and then top it with shredded Mylar to hide the newspapers (figure D) -- and to give the party a more festive atmosphere.

Expert Tip: Christopher Champagne, Visual Stylist, says that it is a good idea to designate an entry for your guests to enter and exit from. He says you can achieve this with lighting, decorations or even signage or props.
