    Materials:

    Game boards
    Clear contact paper
    Tablecloth
    Twister game boards
    Baker boxes
    Coffee cans
    Museum wax
    Game pieces

    1. Place your tablecloth on the table and then place a twister mat haphazardly across the middle (figure A).

    2. Spray empty tuna, vegetable and coffee cans and bakery boxes in bright colors (figure B) to match the colors of the Twister board. These cans and boxes give you several different levels to place your food on -- creating a unique look and giving your guests a fun and wacky feeling.

    3. Cover all the game boards in clear contact paper. Place several game boards on top of some of the cans all around the table.

    4. Museum wax (figure C) is used under breakables on a high shelf to keep them from falling over. It is good to use behind a card to steady it up on top of your game board. Or, you can use it to fan out cards (figure D).

Note: To further your theme, use game pieces all over the buffet.

    5. Place game boards at the back of the table and hang a twister board behind the buffet table on the wall (figure E). Write the menu on the twister board.

    Tips:

    • Chris Champagne, Visual Stylist, advises that when throwing a party a good rule of thumb is -- if in doubt, move it out. This applies to furniture, collectibles, and antiques. Anything that you don't want damaged or anything spilled on, you should remove. You will need to move your dining room table up against the wall. If your chandelier hangs low, you need to raise it. You can use an "S" hook that can be found at any hardware store.

    • Diann Valentine, Event Planner, says that in designing a buffet table for a dinner party, be sure and remember that you need to be concerned about what the table will look like when the food is gone. Be sure and use acuratexturally pleasing plates, stands and statues that will be in place even after the food is gone.
