Here are some creative ideas for making party invitations for your Board-Game-a-Thon:

    Uno Card Invitation

    • You can make a computer simulated Uno Card. You can use Print Shop Pro (or whatever program you have on your computer) to open a new document. Make a square shape with a black fill and another of equal size in red. Then, type Game-A-Thon in the center and your address, phone number, etc. in the left hand corner (figure A).

    • On the back of the card put the time in upper left and bottom right corners. In the center put the date in large letters and the hosts name above the date. Below the date put games/food/fun (figure B).

    • You can either print these on opposite sides of card stock or glue them together.

    Scrabble Card Invitation

    • Make a computerized card to look like a Scrabble game board (figure C). Just make a square shape with the fill color matching the scrabble board. Resize the box to the size you desire. Draw white lines in the box in a grid pattern. Open a text box inside some of the grids and make the triple and double word score in a pink box. Print the invitations on card stock and glue Scrabble pieces to the front spelling "PARTY."

    • Our easiest idea is computerized clip art in shape of a medallion with the information printed on it Print the invitation on card stock. Then just attach different colored long ribbons with a medal to the top of each invitation (figure D). The guests should wear the medal to the party and when they arrive they find people with their same color ribbon and that is whose team they are on. It makes a good icebreaker and conversation starter.

Tip: Marc Friedland, Invitation Expert, says the essential information for a great invitation is really simple. You just need to include who is doing the inviting, what the party is and where it is, the day and date, the time and any special things to wear and how to respond to the party.
