  • One of the great traits of the '80's is color, color, color! Besides the Xenoline you use for the stage and on the buffet table, you can place it around shelving, etc. in the living room.

  • Setting up the karaoke machine will involve hooking up the mikes and connecting the karaoke machine to your television. You could also rent mike stands for a more authentic look to the stage (figure A).

  • Place strips of party gels on the windows behind the buffet (figure B) to give a colorful, geometric look.

Expert Tips: Jorge Lopez, Technical "Wow" Director says that when you are having a karaoke party you need to keep in mind that the karaoke singing area is going to be the focal point of the party. Make sure you design your party around that area because that is where most of your guests are going to want to be looking at throughout the entertainment.

Chris Champagne, Visual Stylist, says that one good way to decorate for a party is to use your own collectibles (figure C). This will also bring in good conversation -- people will ask about the collections and it also gives a personal touch.
