Involve all the children in creating decorations. In fact, make the creation process part of the actual party. It's a great way to break the ice and get the children involved immediately. Here are several ideas from DIY Family Entertaining: - Set up stations for creating clay decorations. Let the children be creative.
- Rent a helium tank from a party store, and have an adult supervise the children with blowing up the balloons (figure A). Then have the kids use their imagination to decorate the balloons.
- What's a party without signs? Have an adult draw the word party, and have a child color the letters (figure B).
- Paper chains are a popular favorite, but be sure to have an adult supervise the stapling process. An alternative is to use glue instead of staples.
