Paula Jhung, author of Guests Without Grief, shows us how to make a lovely candle cover with rice paper and a tall jar. Simply wrap a piece of rice paper around the jar and tape it in the back. Make sure the paper is taller than the jar for an elegant touch. Tie a piece of raffia around the middle and decorate with a sprig of fern (figure A). This is the perfect light for your next party.

Jhung also shows us how a pedestal cake stand sets your dessert on the stiletto heel of presentation. Add a doily and a couple of flowers to render your dessert more seductive and completely irresistible (figure B).
