Here are a few plate-presentation ideas from Chef Jamie Gwen, the host of DIY Cooking:

    • Use a strand of lemon or orange peel as a garnish (figure A) on the plate. A slice of the fruit to sit alongside the peel is a nice touch as well.

    • Use a sauce bottle to paint or drizzle over the plate (figure B). Chocolate is perfect for desserts, barbecue sauce for meats, etc.

    • Fresh herbs are ideal to use for decorating a plate. A scallion flower was used on the dish in the foreground, and a rosemary sprig was used on the plate with mashed potatoes in the background (figure C).

Note: Be creative and have fun with plate presentation. Remember, many culinary experts say presentation is half the battle when it comes to a successful dining experience.
