The red letter P is made with paprika and makes a nice addition to a kitchen wall.

Garden crafter Lark Foster shows how to make attractive herb pictures to add color and texture to a room.

    Materials:

    Picture frame
    Construction paper
Stencils of the letters L and P
    Lavender
    Paprika
    Scissors
    Yellow rice paper
    Permanent black marker
    White glue
    Optional: small paintbrush

    1. If necessary, reduce the letter L stencil on a copy machine to fit the desired picture frame. Cut out the stencil (figure A).

    2. Center the cutout letter L stencil on a piece of yellow rice paper, and trace around the stencil with a permanent marker (figure B).

    3. Spread white glue over the letter L inside the marked lines. Use the glue straight from the bottle, or spread it with your finger or a small paintbrush (figure C).

    4. Sprinkle lavender over the glue, pressing it down (figure D).

    5. Remove excess lavender, and let the glue dry overnight.

    6. Place the rice paper in a picture frame.

    7. Repeat the same steps with the letter P, and sprinkle paprika over the glue.
