Anchor your potato between two wooden spoon handles (figure A). This will prevent you from cutting all the way through. After slicing the potatoes, place them in a baking dish and cover with melted butter and your favorite herbs. Bake at 400 degrees for 1 hour and then top with Parmesan cheese and serve hot.
