Barbecue Ribs with Kansas City Style Sauce

    Ingredients for the Ribs:

    2 racks of ribs
    Salt and pepper to taste
    1 Tsp. liquid smoke
    1/4 cup water

    Preparation for Ribs:

Season ribs with salt and pepper to taste, then pour on liquid smoke and water. Seal in aluminum foil and cook on grill for about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Ingredients for Kansas City Style Sauce:

    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 Tbs. butter
    2 cups ketchup
    1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
    1 Tbs. mustard
    1 Tbs. molasses
    1/4 cup cider vinegar
    1/2 tsp. ground cumin

    Preparation for the sauce:

While the ribs are cooking, saute chopped onion in butter over medium heat until clear. Then add jatchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, molasses, cider vinegar and ground cumin. Simmer for about 20-25 minutes over a low flame.

Once the ribs have cooked for an hour or so, remove from foil and place directly on the grill. Liberally brush with sauce and grill for 10 to 15 minutes, turning meat and reapplying sauce as needed, approximately every 5 minutes.
