Figs Baked with Honey and Lavender

    Ingredients:

    12 soft, ripe figs
    4 Tbs. honey
    2/3 cup water
1 tsp. minced fresh lavender blossoms
    12 Tbs. heavy unsweetened cream

    Preparation:

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Prick the figs all over with a fork. Place in a shallow baking dish just large enough to hold them packed snugly. Drizzle or brush them with the honey, and sprinkle with lavender blossoms. Pour water into the bottom of the baking dish, and place in the oven. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes, depending upon the size and ripeness of the figs. Set aside to cool for about 10 minutes, then serve warm with their juices and a tablespoon of heavy cream spooned over the figs.

Note: The lavender creates a haunting undertone for this elegant rendition of figs, served warm with thick cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

    Yield: 6 servings

We at DIY believe all of the recipes from Paul James' Home Grown Cooking are accurate and reliable, but since we have not tested them personally, we can claim no responsibility if the desired results are not achieved.
