    Light-as-a-Feather Biscuits

    Ingredients:

    4 cups self-rising flour
    1 Tbs. baking powder
    1 Tbs. sugar
    2 cups buttermilk
    2/3 cup shortening (butter-flavored)

    Preparation:

Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, buttermilk and butter-flavored shortening in a large mixing bowl, stirring just enough to incorporate ingredients. Turn out onto a floured board and roll about 1" thick with a floured rolling pin. (Don't play with the dough too much -- it will make the biscuits chewy instead of fluffy and flaky.) Cut out biscuits with floured biscuit cutter or drinking glass. Place in a baking pan and brush each biscuit top with buttermilk for a brown, crusty finish).

Bake in a preheated 400-degree oven until golden brown, approximately 12 to 15 minutes.

We at DIY believe all of the recipes from All in Good Taste are accurate and reliable, but since we have not tested them personally, we can claim no responsibility if the desired results are not achieved.
