| Homemade Root Beer |
| Making your own root beer is really simple. |

Whether you drink it straight or add ice cream to make a float, you'll love being able to enjoy your own homemade root beer!
Tools: 2 c. sugar 1 c. water 1 tsp. root-beer extract carbonated water saucepan 8-oz. soda glasses
1. To make a simple syrup (figure A), combine the sugar and water in the saucepan and heat gently on medium heat. Be careful to not overheat the sugar mixture, or it will turn into caramel. Once the sugar is dissolved, remove from heat.2. Add the root-beer extract to the simple syrup (figure B) to create the soda syrup.
3. Fill the soda glass with ice, spoon 2 oz. of the soda syrup over the ice (figure C) and top off with carbonated water (figure D). Stir gently.
4. Store remaining soda syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
