    Figure A

Twin sisters Mary and Sara Corpening, authors of Smoothies: 50 Recipes for High-Energy Refreshment, began their smooth journey as caterers with a need for non-alcoholic drinks. Their tasty and original recipes offer adventurous mixtures of fruit, yogurt, soymilk, flavorings and other delicious, healthful ingredients that zing with energy. These alternative beverages are sure to delight your guests, and are simple to make. Try one of the sisters' favorite recipes at your next party. They recommend making 24 ounces at a time for the freshest flavor.

    Just Dew It Smoothie

    Ingredients:

Fresh sliced honeydew melon, cut into 1" pieces
    1/3 cup lemon-lime soda
    Pinch of salt
    Fresh-squeezed lime juice
    Handful of ice
    Sprigs of mint

    Preparation:

In a blender, combine the melon, soda, salt, lime juice and ice until smooth. Pour into glasses and garnish with mint. Tip: Use a fork to extract more juice from the lime as you squeeze it.

    Smoothie a la King

A love of Rock and Roll inspired this decadent smoothie that would have been fit for the King himself, with his obsession for peanut butter and bananas.

    Ingredients:

    3/4 cup non-fat milk
3/4 cup non-fat frozen vanilla yogurt
    1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
    2 fresh frozen bananas

Combine ingredients in a blender until smooth (figure A).

    Zesty Fruit Smoothie

    Ingredients:

    2 chopped bananas
1 cup quartered, fresh frozen strawberries
    1 cup fresh orange juice

    Preparation:

Pour orange juice into a blender then add bananas and strawberries. Mix for 30 seconds.
