Butter brown bread on each side. Place thinly sliced cucumber or thinly sliced smoked salmon on the bread. Cut off the crusts and then slice the sandwich in half and then in half again making 4 triangles. In Britain they only use butter on their sandwiches. You can use mayonnaise, dill, etc. The idea is to keep it simple.
