Dress up pillows with these ribbon techniques from Carol Duvall, host of HGTV's The Carol Duvall Show. Add multicolored bows of grosgrain ribbon to a plain pillow, or cover the surface entirely with a woven-ribbon cover. Assorted pieces of ribbon as long as the width of the pillow

- Determine the placement of the ribbon bows. You'll need two pieces of ribbon for each tied bow.
- Turn over a pair of same-color ribbons so their undersides face up. Extend them out from opposite side of the pillow, arranging them perpendicular to the edge of the pillow. Attach them to the pillow with a row of stitching about 1/4" from the edge of the pillow (figure A).
- Turn the pair of ribbons face up over the pillow and tie in a bow.
- Repeat the process for each bow-tied ribbon added to the pillow (figure B).
Woven Ribbon Pillows
Cover pillows with a pretty pattern of woven ribbon. Use pins or iron-on adhesive to hold the ribbons in place as you weave. Fusible webbing allows you to iron the woven portions in place as you go. A self-sticking sheet with a grid drawn on, available from Stitch Witchery®, makes it easy to keep ribbons in place while you weave.
