After: a home office with style!

Host Gilda Riccardi and homeowner Edwin remake a spare bedroom into an office using bold acrylic colors, which they blend right on the walls. Then, below the chair rail, they create faux wood-grain panels on the bare drywall walls. The result is a home office that's sophisticated yet inviting and that is in keeping with the decor of the rest of the house.

Before painting a room, you should always prepare the area to be painted by taping any electrical outlets, molding, ceilings, etc. Also spackle any dents or nail holes in the walls.
