There's no more direct way to display wall art than to paint it right on the wall. Craft designer Debbie Davis shows Cindy Piccoli, host of HGTV's Decorating With Style, how easy it can be to create an intricate wall mural.

The Accent Magic Mural Tracer® by Koh-I-Noor demonstrated in this segment included a mural pattern and tracing tools. Unfortunately, this product has been discontinued. You can create your own wall mural pattern, however, and use graphite transfer paper to trace it onto the wall, then paint the design with acrylic craft paints.

    Materials:

    Mural pattern
    Graphite transfer paper
    Ballpoint pen
    Acrylic craft paints
    Artist's brushes

    1. Create a design for your wall mural by looking for ideas in art and architecture books or home-decorating magazines. Use graphite transfer paper to trace your design on the wall. Don't use carbon paper, which would leave a greasy residue on the wall.

    2. Paint the designs with acrylic craft paints. Outline the patterns, then fill in the middle (figure A). Shade flowers and leaves by blending lighter or darker colors when wet (figure B). Let dry, and add more distinct painted details (figure C).
