Use spray adhesive to attach the burlap to the luan; press it out from the middle to remove all wrinkles.
Fold the edges of the burlap over onto the back side of the luan and glue the edges down using the glue gun.
Cover the burlap with a sealer or shellac. Follow manufacturer's instructions for drying time. You may need to apply two coats.
Print out your favorite recipes onto the clear plastic sheets. Use spray adhesive (or pins) to place the recipes on the burlap.
Place the panel onto the backsplash area. Find the wall studs and use drywall screws to attach the luan panel along its edges and into a couple of the studs.
If you want, place a small piece of wood trim around the edges and nail into place.
When it comes time to remove the backsplash, just take the screws out and fill the holes with joint compound.
