Safety tip: Always keep safety in mind when you're using scissors and hot glue, and please have an adult present.

    Materials (Spokes):

    Colored straws
    Scissors
    Ruler
    Marker

Measure and cut straws into 3-inch pieces. Cut a slit lengthwise in straws. Place straw sections on your spokes (figure A). Alternate colors for a pattern.

    Materials (Flag):

    Pencil
    Scissors
    Craft foam
    3' rod and reflector
    Bike cleat
    Hot glue
    Ruler
    Paint pens
    Bike flag cleat

Take the reflector off the top of the driveway stake/flexi-rod. Draw and cut a shape out of thick craft foam (figure B). Hot-glue onto flexi-rod. Embellish with reflectors and flag tape, paint pens, etc. Mount cleat (figure C) on rear axle and insert flag in cleat.

    Materials (Streamers):

    Flag tape
    Large safety pin
    One plastic bag
    Pliers with wire cutter
    Hot glue
    Scissors
    3/8" dowel
    Craft knife
    Drill and small bit
    Vise
    Safety glasses

    1. Cut a small round of dowel about three inches long. Place dowel in vise and drill a hole in the end of dowel about 3/4-inch deep (figure D).

    2. Using pliers, cut the sharp end and the clasp end off a large safety pin (do this in plastic bag so the metal will not fly off and poke you in the eye), leaving a 3/4-inch piece of wire. You will end up with the loop and the straight piece of the pin.

    3. Place a dab of hot glue on the end of the dowel and carefully insert wire into hole.

    4. Cut flag tape into thinner strips. Thread flag strips through safety-pin hole and tie off. Add a dab of hot glue to hold in place better. Trim strips so they are even. Now insert the dowel into the rubber grip of your handlebars (figure E).

    Materials (Foam Covers):

    Craft foam
    Velcro
    Hot glue
    Paint pens
    Ruler
    Pencil
    Scissors

    1. Measure your handlebars and center support bar and cut the thin craft-foam sheet to fit around these bars.

    2. Hot-glue Velcro on the edges to secure on the bike (figure F).

    3. Use permanent markers, fabric paint, or paint pens to decorate.

Products: All products are available at craft, art, hardware and general-purpose stores.
