    Figure A

Having a problem with moles in your yard? If little mounds of dirt seem to appear magically in your yard, you probably have moles. These burrowing rodents can wreak havoc by creating holes and tunnels throughout your lawn. Besides killing grass and plants, moles can actually do so much burrowing that they can cause building supports to sink and pavement to crack. There are a couple of things you can do.

    • Moles feed on grubs, so if you can eliminate grubs from your yard, the moles will soon follow. You can purchase grub spray at garden centers.

    • The most effective way to get rid of moles, though, is with traps (figure A). Just because you have lots of mounds, that doesn't necessarily mean you have a lot of moles. Just one mole can do a lot of damage.
