    Like anything else in your home, houseplants can get dusty over time. Jessie Mack Burns offers these tips for cleaning them.

    • Dust is especially noticeable on broad-leaved plants. Misting the leaves weekly (figure A) will help you remove and control dust.



    • Since they're harder to clean by hand, give finer leafed plants a "shower" using tepid water and the sprayer attachment on your kitchen faucet or a watering can (figure B). Rinsing the foliage in this way can also help remove insect eggs.



    • If your plants are small enough, you can turn them upside down and dip the foliage into a container of water (figure C), making certain to hold the base secure in the pot with your hand.
