Wire hangers hold hanging baskets more securely than plastic.

The plastic hangers that come with plastic hanging baskets aren't very reliable, says show host Kim Haworth. She recommends replacing them with hangers you make yourself using old wire coat hangers.

The process is simple: Just detach the plastic hangers or cut them off with wire cutters. Then cut the bottom rung from two wire coat hangers. Wire the tops together with florist's wire, and then bend all four legs at an angle, so you can attach them to the pot where the plastic hangers used to be.
