Combine different varieties of cactus for a striking container garden.

Just about any houseplant can be featured in a container garden, but people don't always think of cactus, says show host Kim Haworth. Here's how she creates a striking cactus garden:

    1. Prop a wire basket between two bricks on a work surface, and line it with coconut fiber mat..

    2. Mix sand and fast-draining soil mix in a 1-to-3 ratio with a trowel.

    3. Fill the lined basket to the half-way mark with the potting mix.

    4. Using cactus gloves, add cactus, loosening each plant's roots first as you take it from its nursery pot. Set cactus so that they'll hang over the side a bit, and put the tall ones in the middle.

    5. Add more cactus potting mix until the pot is full.

    6. Top the surface with decorative stones.
