 Putting a pot within a pot prevents moisture loss.

If your container garden is in full sun, create insulation so that the soil -- and your plants -- don't lose moisture as quickly. Here's how: - Put a little bit of soil in a pot that's two sizes larger than the potted plant you want to protect. Add enough soil so that when you place the smaller pot, its rim is the same height as the larger pot's.
- Fill the space between the pots with potting soil.
- Water the plant, but only the soil in the inside pot.
- Set the larger pot in a saucer.
