    Tips:

    • To make sure your ladder is positioned at the correct angle, place your toes at the foot of the ladder. Extend your arms at shoulder height and you should be able to grab the rung at that height without stretching or leaning.

    • If you lose your footing while up on a roof, try to drop flat and spread your arms wide to stop yourself from sliding.

    • Never climb a ladder without inspecting it first. Visually inspect all rivets and bolts and make sure all rungs are clean and secure.

    • Did you know? Bats can consume up to one and one half times their body weight in food every day. For an adult male, this would be like eating 1,000 quarter-pound cheeseburgers a day, every day.

    • Inspect attic vents yearly to ensure proper ventilation. Take special care to keep vents clear when adding additional insulation.

    • Whole house fans can create big savings on summer cooling costs. Be sure to close or cover the fan vents during the winter months to reduce heat loss.
