    Tips:

    • To clean concrete, mix 3/4 cup bleach with a gallon of water, then use a stiff brush to apply the solution, and rinse.

    • To ease the grind when drilling in masonry, make a pilot hole by nailing a masonry nail in the exact spot. Be sure to leave enough nail exposed to pull it out easily.

    • The definition of rebar: re-bar ('rE-"bar) (n.): a steel rod with ridges for use in reinforced concrete such as bridges and foundations.

    • Since plaster and drywall each have a different thickness, be sure to measure the thickness of your finished wall before purchasing prehung windows or doors.

    • Before tackling that large wallboard project, make sure to get the proper size panels. Covering a 9' high wall with 4' panels would require two horizontal seams on each wall, while 4-1/2' panels are available that would require only one seam per wall.
