Uploading Photos to an Auction Site

Uploading images for use in online auctions may be easier than you think. The major auction sites offer helpful information and are set up to basically step you through the process. Here are the basics.

• Begin by logging onto your auction site.

• Next, pick a category that describes the type of object you're selling.

• Fill out the object's description.

• Pick a condition from the drop down menu--new, mint, good, fair, etc.

• To upload the images you've taken, simply click the button that says UPLOAD PHOTOS. This will initiate step-by-step instructions that will walk you through the process.

• Click on CHOOSE FILE.

• Choose your image then double click on the image. In most cases, you can upload multiple images of a single item if you wish -- such as a key image showing the whole object, rear and side views, close-ups showing detail, etc.)

  Important: Remember that the first image you upload is the shoppers at the auction site are going to see as a thumbnail. Choose the most representative photo (one showing the whole object) for your "key image", upload it, then add other photos such as your detail shots.

• There are typically other options you can go through if you want but, before you finish, be certain to click on PRICE and designate a price by typing in an amount.

• Scroll down to the bottom and click CONTINUE. Follow the prompts to finish the final steps, and you're done.
