What's not to like? Point-and-shoot digital cameras are extremely easy to use. They have zoom lenses, flashes, even self-timers. They give you instant feedback on your shots, and you can load the pictures you like onto your computer immediately. Digital-imaging expert Steve Powell explains to DIY Photography host Rick Sammon that one of the best advantages is the quality. "Most digital cameras are one megapixel or better," he says. "That's enough to get you the image quality you need, whether you want to e-mail a photo or make prints." (Nothing can beat the resolution and versatility of your 35mm single-lens-reflex film camera, however.) Each digital camera has an LCD (figure A) -- a small TV screen that lets you see the picture you've just taken. If you don't like the image, you can erase it and take another. The pictures are stored on a memory card (figure B); the number you can store depends on the type of card you have and the resolution you've selected. When you want to reuse the card, transfer the images to your computer or a printer.
