Have you ever thought about turning a picture into a puzzle, putting a face on a flower (figure A) or turning images into a cartoon? How about converting them to black-and-white or sepia-tone images? You can do a lot of cool things with digital images online, says digital-imaging expert Steve Powell, and many of them are free. You can create an e-mail postcard, put a border around your photo to dress it up, write a personal message and send the result to a friend. You can turn a photo with rich color into an image that looks like an oil painting. Converting a photo to sepia tone and printing it on parchment gives it an antique look. You don't need a high-powered computer or special software to try these techniques. Most computers today are able to process digital images, and plenty of fun and free software is available to do the work.
