    How to Install a Shower:

    • Kim and plumber Dave Hauser install a shower pan over a drain in the concrete floor (figure A).

    • First, Kim glues the first panel into place. She applies a thick bead of shower/tub adhesive to the entire edge of the shower panel, and then she makes a big X with adhesive (figure B). Be sure to apply adhesive on the non-shiny side of shower panels.

    • Press the panel against the wall in the shower stall. Kim smoothes the panel with a towel while pushing up from the bottom.

    • Next, Adam measures to the center of the mixing valve in the shower stall to determine where a hole will need to be cut in the other shower panel (figure C).

    • Adam and Kim transfer the measurements to the shower panel. Adam uses a hole saw to make a hole (figure D).

    • Then Kim and Adam install the center track panel (corner panel) only after installing side panels (figure E).

    • After the panels are dry, Adam caulks all seams to make the shower watertight.

    • Kim arranges the shower’s base plate and tapes it down to temporarily secure it in place (figure F).

    • Kim and Adam line up the side plates and uses a level to ensure their straightness. Adam uses a pencil to mark where holes will need to be drilled and drills a starter hole.

    • Adam caulks the back side of the side plate and places it against the wall. He screws it in to secure.

    • Kim helps Adam screw in the glass panels of the shower (figure G).

    • Adam threads piping on the glass panel to make the shower watertight (figure H).

    • Kim and Adam arrange the top plate and screw it in (figure I). Adam lines up the door and secures it to the shower unit with a screw through the top plate.
