Covering Ductwork1. To protect the further exposed ductwork, create chases.
2. Measure the exposed duct work first and then cut corresponding pieces of plywood to create chases. It will be similar to creating little three-sided boxes.
3. Cut three sides of strong plywood for each exposed duct the same plywood used as floor will be fine.
4. Fasten the sides together tightly with screws.
5. For portability, you have the option of not affixing the chase to the floor.
6. If you are concerned about the chases shifting, you have the option of securing some of the chases to one another with 2x4s.
Tip:
- In addition to protecting the ductwork, the chases can be used for a seating area, or for storage. The chases also help create a uniform and cohesive look to your attic by covering up the ugly duct work.
