Tiling Vanity
1. Hold tile on front apron of vanity top (figure A).
2. Place 1x4 board over tile and 1/2" above cement board at countertop height (figure B). This will be the guide for the countertop tile. You want the apron and countertop tile to meet with a very minimal grout line.
3. Remove tile from front of apron before beginning.
4. Lay out tile on countertop to determine sink cutouts.
5. Cut tiles for sink area (figure C). To cut a curved line, either cut small straight cuts close together up to the curved line, or try to match the curved line moving the tile on the curve.
6. Spread thinset onto the tile with a trowel (figure D).
7. Press tiles down firmly to secure into place (figure E).
8. Place 1/8" spacers on countertop to lift the first tile off the countertop (figure F).
9. Mark the top and side.
10. Place the level on these lines and mark the lines with a pencil.
11. Spread thinset on the back of the tile with a trowel.
12. Place on the pre-marked lines (figure G).
13. Push on tiles to distribute the thinset on the tiles and wall and set into place.
Note: The second row and all subsequent rows do not need spacers because the tile comea with 1/16" nubs built into them (figure H).
