Counter-Seal® is used to allow easier installation of an undermount sink and granite tile countertop.

Center Counter-Seal® on sink base and cut a piece of plywood to length for the rest of the countertop.

For the remainder of the countertop, the mortar can be spread directly on the cement board. Apply it liberally, then drag the notched side back over at a 45-degree angle to take off the excess.

Have someone hold the sink in place as you fasten the clips that came with the sink.
    Materials:

    Counter-Seal®

    plywood
    circular saw
    safety glasses
    chisel
    hammer

    bucket
    paddle mixer
    corded drill
    cardboard
    tape
    tape measure
    grease pencil
    wet saw
    safety glasses

    Undermount Sink

    silicone
    sink clips

    Counter-Seal® Installation

    1. The two pieces will need to be joined together with a one-inch lap joint. Clamp a straight-edge to the plywood and make several passes with a circular saw set to about half the depth of the plywood.

    2. Follow up with a chisel to make a smooth surface.

    3. Use construction adhesive and screws to attach the two pieces together as well as to the cabinets.

    Granite Tile Countertop

    1. Use cardboard to template around the Counter-Seal®. Lay out tiles, leaving the desired amount of spacing between them and tape the seams of the tiles so they do not move. If you do not have tile spacers, you can use coins.

    2. Set the template on the tiles and tape it down. Trace along the template and number the tiles with a grease pencil.

    3. Remove tape and cut tiles with a wet saw.

    4. To mimic the factory edge on the cut tiles, use a variable speed angle grinder to buff the edges.

    5. Back-butter the tiles around the sink with a square-notched trowel and set them in place.

    Undermount Sink Installation

    1. Run a bead of silicone along the outer rim of the sink. This will add an extra layer of adhesion to support the sink.

    2. Lift sink and attach to the underside of the Counter-Seal®. Adjust the sink until it is centered.
