    Vanity Framing

    1. The faucets should land on center, so the countertop should be 66 inches (figure A).

    2. After taking the proper measurements, start cutting 2x4s. The first cut on a 2x4 is always from one end to create a smooth, finished edge to measure from (figure B).

    3. Starting form the newly finished edge, measure out 62 inches from the length.

    4. The assembly of the frame is simple.

    5. Use a nail gun to drive two nails into every corner, keeping the pieces tight and flush (figure C).

    6. One of the bottom frames should fit snugly against the corner of the wall (figure D). Attach it to the studs in the wall with a nail gun, and nail it into the subfloor at an angle.

    7. Cut additional 2x4s and nail them to the bottom frame.

    8. These placed flat, plus another full frame will make the finished height of the base the desired nine inches.

    9. Using a hammer, sink the nails into the 2x4 to make a smooth surface.

    10. Attach the second frame to the 2x4s (figure E), setting the nail gun at an angle. This allows the nail to drive through the first board, and into the second, toenailing them together.

    11. Follow the same steps for the top frame.

    12. Line up the 2x4s and attach it driving nails every 12 inches

    13. Bring the frame into place (figure F) and nail it to the studs in the wall.

    15. Clamping the corners keeps the 2x4s compressed tightly together while the pieces are toenailed together (figure G).
