Pantry Doors Installation From "Kitchen Renovations" episode DKTN-507

The pantry doors are hung on a track system similar to a pocket door, minus the pocket.

Pantry Doors Installation

1. Determine width of opening. Mark wall at height of the door, measure up to the ceiling and that is the height of the header (figure A). Cut boards to size with a miter saw.

2. Attach header to ceiling with screws and add a 2x4 so the header is wide enough for the track (figure B).

3. Add a piece of 1x on each side of the opening to act as a doorstop (figure C).

4. Mount the track to the header with screws, attach the rollers to the door and hang the sliding door to the track (figure D).

5. Set stationary door in the track and notch out base trim for the width of both doors using a hammer and chisel (figure E).
