The homeowners want more light in the kitchen, so they decide to add a row of glass block windows.

Materials:tape measure pencil chalk line safety glasses dust mask circular saw hammer reciprocating saw 2x4s framing nailer hammer tacker silicone caulk gun torpedo level screws screw gun Glass Block Windows Installation 1. Determine desired height for windows and snap a chalk line (figure A). 2. Cut along chalk lines using a circular saw with a carbide-tipped blade (figure B). 3. Remove drywall, plaster and lath to reveal the studs (figure C). 4. If you find old knob and tube wiring in the wall, test it to be sure it is not in use (figure D). Clip the wires and cap them with wire nuts. 5. Use a reciprocating saw to cut through the siding and create the opening (figure E).
6. Add blocks of wood to the top, bottom and sides to act as nailing blocks (figure F).7. Staple tar paper on the exterior of the house around the window opening (figure G).
8. Run a bead of silicone to the flange of the glass block window (figure H) and set in place (figure I).9. Check for level and secure the window with screws (figure J).
