    Doorway Trim

    1. To mill the wood into trim, use a table saw to rip the tongue off of each board (figure A).

    2. Attach the boards with a finish nailer (figure B). Add shims as needed (figure C).

    3. You can often find salvaged wood at places that specialize in reclaimed lumber (figure D).

    Cabinet Installation

    1. Dryfit base for pantry cabinet, add fir strip and bring the base to level (figure E). Secure base with screws (figure F) and set cabinet on base (figure G).

    2. Check for plumb and level and attach cabinet to wall with cabinet screws.

    3. To hang upper cabinets, attach a piece of 2x4 to act as a temporary support (figure H) while screwing the cabinet in place (figure I).

    Modified Butcher Block Countertop

    1. Flip butcher block over so if there is any tearout, it will be on the bottom (figure J).

    2. Measure to length and draw a line with a straight edge.

    3. Use a worm-drive circular saw to cut through hard material such as maple. A large speed square can be used as a guide for the saw (figure K).
